ALAN WAKE NEW PC GAME

Alan Wake is a psychological thriller action game developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by Microsoft Game Studios. It was released for the Xbox 360 on May 18, 2010 and Microsoft Windows on February 16, 2012. The story follows bestselling thriller novelist Alan Wake, as he tries to uncover the mystery behind his wife's disappearance during a vacation in the small (fictional) town of Bright Falls, Washington. All while experiencing events from the plot in his latest novel, which he cannot remember writing, coming to life.
In its pacing and structure, Alan Wake is similar to a thriller television series, with episodes that contain plot twists and cliffhangers. The game itself consists of six episodes, and the fiction is continued by two special episodes, titled "The Signal" and "The Writer", that were made available as downloadable content (D L C) within the same year of the game's release, released for free with the PC's Collector's Edition. Together, they make the first season of a possibly longer story. Additionally, a six-episode live-action web series called Bright Falls acts as a prequel to the game, and a number of related books also expand upon the Alan Wake story.                      (( FREE DOWNLOAD HERE ))
Chiefly written by Sam Lake, Alan Wake took over five years to create; an unusually long development time in the game industry. The game received positive reviews from critics, and is often revered for its narrative, pacing, and atmosphere. Alan Wake has been awarded the first spot in Time magazine's list of the top 10 video games of 2010.
Alan Wake's American Nightmare, a full stand-alone title, released in February 2012 on the Xbox Live Arcade service. The game will not constitute a direct sequel to Alan Wake, and no plans have been announced for a sequel (or "season two") for the original game. Remedy have stated, however, that they are not yet done with Alan Wake.

Cities XL 2012

Playing a virtual mayor may be a lot more enjoyable than doing it in the real world. Cities XL 2012 simplifies the messy rigmarole that comes with running a municipality; you eliminate things like labor problems, uptight councillors, and calls from angry residents about raccoons getting into garbage cans in favor of focusing on urban planning. Developer Focus Home Interactive does an impressive job on this big picture, too, thanks to a wide variety of map terrain and a straightforward interface that make it easy to build the metropolis of your dreams. But there is one big problem: You've seen it all before. This game is a complete rehash of Cities XL 2011, with only some new buildings and maps added to the feature set. While the publisher is making no secret that this is more of an expansion than a full-blown sequel and is offering an upgrade to owners of last year's game for $15, there still isn't enough fresh content to warrant a purchase.

Life in the burbs comes with some new building designs in Cities XL 2012.
Life in the burbs comes with some new building designs in Cities XL 2012.
If you're familiar with Cities XL 2011, then surprise, you're already familiar with Cities XL 2012. This is pretty much the same game, albeit with around 300 new buildings (a mostly cosmetic change that gives neighborhoods a revamped look with things like deluxe waterfront homes) and 15 new maps on which to ply your city-building talents. The heart of the game still beats exactly as it did last year. You play virtual mayor of a budding burg on maps that represent terrain of all types found in every corner of the globe. Just about everything you could imagine is represented here, from fertile valleys and deserts to rocky wastelands and island paradises. Each comes with fairly distinct challenges that mostly involve how to best manipulate the terrain and how to deal with resource shortages in crucial areas like water and oil. As with the earlier games in the series, there is no campaign here. Instead, you freely go from one map to the next and develop cities that coexist as part of a shared global economy. So even though you're not following any sort of storyline, you are building cities that can work together.
Mechanics follow the modern city-building template laid out in SimCity 4 back in 2003. You have godlike control over every aspect of urban planning, which allows you the freedom to lay down residential, commercial, and industrial zones where homes, offices, factories, stores, and the like automatically pop up as soon as the dust clears. While you do construct some specific buildings, like schools, police stations, and high-rise hotels, most of the time, you're drawing huge runs of city blocks that soon become home to apartment buildings and Dunder Mifflin-styled office complexes. So, build it and they will come. There are some complications that mainly have to do with the need to build different housing for unskilled, skilled, executive, and elite working classes, as well as balance standard residential houses with denser developments, such as townhouses, apartments, and condos, as your city grows. Regardless, you couldn't ask for more of a no-nonsense economic system.
Cartoonish graphics with laid-back sound effects and music add to the easygoing atmosphere. Neighborhoods are attractive, but they're so neat and clean that they come off as unrealistic. Lawns are all perfectly manicured, and there isn't a scrap of litter to be found anywhere, let alone something truly scarring to the urban landscape, like graffiti. If you zoom down to street level, you can spot your bulbous citizens doing things like dancing on park benches and even possibly playing hacky sack. Audio effects include a basic range of urban noises along with building-specific sounds like what has to be the world's oldest dot-matrix printer churning away whenever you click on an office building. Soundtrack tunes are an impressively diverse series of cool jazz tracks that give the game a lot of personality. This isn't quite elevator music, although some of the songs make Steely Dan sound like The Sex Pistols.

Elite workers sure seem to love their swimming pools.
Elite workers sure seem to love their swimming pools.
As simple as the economic system here is, you still face some challenges when managing your city. Your citizens want good return on their tax dollars and have the audacity to demand amenities. These include jobs, reasonable health care, and safe neighborhoods covered by police stations and fire departments, as well as recreational opportunities like bowling alleys and swimming pools. You have to keep the people pleased or they will move away, leaving businesses without employees and you with dropping tax revenue. Everything is quite well balanced, though. Serious pitfalls are few and far between so that you are free to build some spectacular municipalities after a short time with the game.

Angry Birds

When you see a game with a name as nondescript as Angry Birds [App Store], it’s pretty hard to get excited. Even after playing through-the first few levels, I was enjoying this game, but failing to see the real appeal. Sticking with Angry Birds for more than 30 minutes, however, reveals a game that can easily be compared (both by the design and quality) to the Wii’s family-friendly hit, Boom Box, and turnouts to be a lot of fun.

With few bum notes, the Italian plumber’s cracked it again with a great return to form for Nintendo’s long-running series.
Best played with friends – although there is a neat single-player mode – you compete against each other on a traditional board game set-up, collecting stars when you win one of 80 new mini-games.
Interesting new challenges – which include bowling, making pizza and beanstalk growing – are faster and more fun than before, and all offer clear instructions, good graphics and some frantic game play.
Even if some Mario fans do find them disappointingly easy, win enough of these and you can unlock two new characters – Shy-Guy and Kameko – or admire your achievements in Museum Mode. There are plenty of bad guys on hand to frustrate your best efforts to beat your fellow gamers at the party too.
Watch out for the tricky traps, the Bob-mob time-bombs and the Bowers squares, which come thick and fast at the end, where you run the risk of losing everything.

World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the Wow Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Anne Stickiness (@Shadeless) is taking this thing over today.

I have no idea what's going on in the above video, but I think I can safely say that YouTube has some of the weirdest stuff.

Everyone ever I swear asked:

(Insert expansion questions here)

Guys, we can't say anything about anything until the NDA is lifted. Patience, please! And while you're waiting, you can read this nice Law bringer all about the ND and why it's there.

Stephanie asked:

Sorry if this has been asked before but I am getting a new laptop in a few days. What is the best way to get Wow and my add oms onto the new laptop? Preferably with all my saved settings.

It's actually pretty easy to do. All you have to do is copy your Wow folder over to your new laptop from your old one. Just make sure it goes into the Program Files folder (or wherever you put it on your old PC), create a shortcut to the launcher on your desktop, and you're good to go.

  Nata asked:

My Q4tQ - Is there any explanation for the major discrepancy in Therese's actions in Kalgoorlie? In Dust-wallow, we see the "normal" Therefore, where we stop agitators from instilling a more warmongering mindset and we get some seed quests that show Horde infiltration of Dust-wallow (which abruptly end). In South Barrens, you see a really "warmonger" Therefore - pretty much what the agitators wanted. The problem is: the South Barrens quests (30-35) happen "before" the Dustwallow ones (35-40).

Why would Theramore be so antagonistic in South Barrens and then revert back to a more peaceful stance later in the quest chain? And if the Dustwallow quests are reinforcing Jaina's peaceful views, why is she housing war machines? It seems as if the quest chain is backwards and we should have started in Therefore and ended in South Barrens.

Here's the deal: Way back in vanilla Wow, Dust wallow Marsh was the zone of unfinished ... stuff. The Missing Diplomat chain ended abruptly with no real conclusion. The chain involving the fire at the Shady Rest Inn also ended in a dead end. In fact, it seemed like Dust wallow was one of those zones that was just sort of half-developed at launch, kind of like Shara, only with a few more quests.

However, the zone received a major makeover in Patch 2.3.0. Mud-sprocket was added as a quest hub, more quests were added all over the zone, and the whole storyline with the Grim-totem tauten was added as well. The Shady Rest Inn quest chain was finally finished, and the Missing Diplomat chain finally had a resolution of sorts. It went from someplace nobody went to unless they happened to be killing Onyx, to a viable quest hub that was pretty fun, level-appropriate, and had some pretty cool rewards.

Now this is just me guessing here, but given the sheer number of zones Blizzard had to revamp with Cataclysm, Dust-wallow Marsh was really not high on the priority list -- because it had already gotten a pretty major revamp back in 2.3.0. So technically speaking, Dust-wallow Marsh is almost in its own little timeline -- but not as far as lore is concerned. You'll see mention of the Shattering, and you'll see the physical changes the zone has gone through, but as far as attitudes and quests, they really haven't changed that much at all. The zone was touched, but it wasn't touched in anywhere near as much detail as the zones that really needed it, like Shara.

Frankly, I don't think the decision was a bad one from a time management perspective. Would you rather Blizzard spend time redeveloping a zone that was already redeveloped or work on someplace that really, really needed that revamp because it hadn't been touched in seven years? So basically, with Dust-wallow and Therefore, I wouldn't look too closely at the material presented in there -- because most of it was written out well before the Shattering ever happened.

@oath-blade on Twitter asked:

Why does the Nara G eras in Shat have his own personal Vindicator bodyguards?

Because he's a darkened Nauru and they're protecting the rest of us from him. I mean come on -- look at him. He looks pretty dark to me.

Free Download Here

Seriously, though, it's probably because he's carrying a lot of valuable material on his person to sell, and they don't want him getting robbed. ... although how, exactly, a spinning, glowing wind-chime with no hands is carrying all that stuff is anybody's guess.

@Broken-ravens on Twitter asked:

At the start of the Varnish quest chain, a group of humans help the Horde in their assault on Storm wind. Is this odd? Is the central conflict of Wow seen inside the game as ores vs. humans, or just Org. vs. Storm wind?

I'm assuming the humans you're talking about are the ones that show up to sail the Horde forces over to Varnish. In that case, you aren't looking at Alliance citizens; you're looking at mercenaries of sorts. They're on the side of whoever happens to pay them enough. They aren't really concerned with moral decisions -- or in the case of Bud, they're not really concerned with thinking at all.
